My client in Fife is looking to recruit a Senior Buyer. This role is commutable from Dunfermline, Glenrothes, Kirkcaldy, Alloa.
They are looking for a Senior Buyer who will be heavily involved with strategy and planning within the Procurement group. We are not looking for a hands-on buyer dealing with order placing etc. You will more strategic on the buying process, managing vendors, negotiating agreements and developing processes. We are most interested in people with a background in Mechanical and / or Electro-Mechanical.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Procure complex direct materials(including castings, plastic injection mouldings, machined components and steel fabrications). Ensure that all orders are maintained in the SAP database and that all payment, delivery issues, etc, are resolved.
Work to achieve the maximum strategic sourcing coverage for both procurement dollars and part numbers. Identifies commodities for strategic sourcing agreements and screens buyer commitment reports on an ongoing basis to identify new part categories or individual part numbers for strategic sourcing.
Coordinates with Design Engineering to identify and negotiate cost reduction areas during the product design phase of new products (Prior to the release of the bill of material).
Conducts cost/price analysis for all products under jurisdiction with emphasis on high dollar and sole source procurements. Establish negotiation strategies. Analyze historical commodity trends and contribute to the development of projected commodity trends for use in formulating each fiscal year Materials Economic Plan.
Maintain positive working relationship with supplier base. Ensure that the Supplier Performance Index governing quality and delivery ratings are considered before deciding to procure material from a particular vendor.
Job Specifications:
Significant and relevant purchasing experience.
Extensive knowledge of product line under area of procurement.
Must have knowledge of all product lines and associated manufacturing processes under area of responsibility.
Experience in purchasing technical commodities requiring close interface with engineering.
Successfully demonstrated negotiation skills.
