My client in Sussex are seeking to recruit a Software Test Technician.
The primary role of the Software test technician is to ensure that software is suitable for release to customers. Other duties will include Firmware and hardware testing & assisting the build of prototype and pre-production products using workshop tools.
Specific responsibilities and duties will include:
Completion of software test schedules for software quarterly release.
Assist the Software design team to test specific features and bug fixes.
Update / amend test schedules as appropriate.
Assist the support department in testing fault reports from customer sites to prove or disprove the appearance of bugs.
Test systems will require constant maintenance to ensure that problems with test equipment do not cloud the testing process. The Software test technician will have joint responsibility for the maintenance of the test equipment.
Hardware testing
The Software test technician will also assist with the testing of new hardware and new firmware versions. Co-ordination with the relevant development engineers is essential to achieve this.
Test builds of major product releases will be first carried out on a small scale before implementing into full production. The Software test technician will on occasion assist with these builds.
Production of testing and programming hardware for production will also be required.
Workshop and test labs
The Software test technician will have joint responsibility for general tidiness and maintenance of the test labs and the workshop.
Administrative tasks
The Software test technician will also be required to assist with the creation of production Manufacturing instructions, as appropriate.

Achieve a good general understanding of all company activity.
Achieve a high level of product knowledge, including competitor products.

Experience and qualifications
May suit a college leaver with an interest in general engineering. Required minimum of A level or equivalent vocational qualification and assistance may be given to candidates interested in pursuing further part-time study.
