My client, a high technology R&D manufacturer based in Towcester in Northamptonshire, requires a Buyer for the logistics department.
The role will be diverse and challenging and include negotiation, agreements and monitoring of supply contracts. Keeping a close watch on suppliers and their achievements against targets will be a big part of this position. You will ensure component requisitions are sourced in a competitive way whilst achieving delivery and quality requirements. You will liaise with other teams within the business assisting with new product integration (NPI) procurement activities, advising on product availability, price projections market trends and KPI conformance. You will actively contribute to meetings covering sourcing strategy, performance of suppliers and quality.
In order to succeed previous experience in a low/medium volume high mix manufacturing environment would be required, component buying within electronics would be a distinct advantage. You will have commercial awareness and negotiating ability to enable you to strike the best deal with suppliers. You will have familiarity with SAP and MRP, the ability to work within a team and making decisive decisions is paramount. Experience of working within a time conscious, fast paced environment is essential, as is a driver's licence.
