My client based in Caswell, Northants have an immediate requirement for an experienced Material Analysis Engineer with knowledge of III-IV semiconductor materials to join the business.
You will work with the engineering teams to define analysis and interpret results in the development of device performance and failure modes covering manufacturing and the development of new products. You will liaise effectively with process engineers providing structural and material analysis providing advice and interpreting results to drive improvements to the process. The environment will be fast paced, a fast turn round will be required for material characterisation. You will be required to provide a failure analysis service to the production facility including preparation and analysis of semiconductor materials and devices and interpret the results. You will work with equipment engineers to ensure smooth running of analysis tools. You will occasionally act as a mentor, training other lab personnel in methods for sample preparation and analysis.
Essential Qualities:
- preferably educated to a degree level within Materials Science / Semiconductor Science or graduate experienced in semiconductor failure analysis (MSc/PhD)
- Experience with FIB (focused ion beam) and TEM
- Good interpretation skills to identify failure mechanisms within semiconductor material devices
- sourcing of contracted support for services not available on site
- Effective communication across all levels of the business, including internal customers to prioritise work and assist in understanding of process failures
- Organised manner, providing a timely response to engineering problems whilst maintaining a fast turn round analysis facility
- Good manual dexterity
- A good level of written and spoken English is essential.
