Our client design and develop complete system-on-a-chip (SoC) solutions. Their diverse product portfolio addresses every major broadband communications market and includes solutions for digital cable and satellite set-top boxes; high definition television (HDTV); cable and DSL modems. They are setting up a new Uk based software engineering team working on STB applications, this is a new project and will offer someone a tremendous opportunity in terms of both technical and management responsibility. In the first instance they are looking for a Software Manager and 4 software engineers. The software manager will have at least 10 years of design experience with increasing responsibility and management experience. Must have experience managing software development in a distributed design environment. Must have working knowledge of C or C++ in a real time embedded processor environment. Working knowledge of the MIPS processor and assembly language is a plus. Must have experience working with Linux or another real-time operating system. Must have experience with MPEG2 HD/SD, NTSC, and PAL video/audio. Should have experience with SetTop box applications, middleware, and driver software design. They have some flexibility in terms of geographic location of this team; it is expected to be either Bristol or Cambridge.
