My client is a world renowned manufacturer developing next generation technology for industrial environments. They are at the forefront of the R&D of new products and technologies often involving elements of electronics design, electrical engineering, mechanical design and software development.
Continued growth on a national and global basis has led to the new requirement for a Programme Manager to take ownership of defined product lines with overall responsibility from concept design and product development through to manufacture. Acting as Project Lead you will work with design engineers to ensure design reviews and key milestones are adhered to. Also you will maintain focus on the manufacturability of the design whilst maintaining relevant quality targets. A clear understanding of current product life spans and the smooth phasing out of older products with updated versions is also important. Regular dialogue with Global Product Managers, Key Customers and Technology Partners is essential to maintain up-to-date knowledge of product trends and the markets needs. Working hand-in-hand with the Senior Management Team you will also contribute to and be actively involved with continuous improvement across the business, particularly from a design and DFM viewpoint.
Coming from a Project Leader or Project Manager background in an engineering or electronic design environment you are likely to have closely matching experience in terms of overall responsibility in taking a product through design phases, manufacturing and marketing. You should have a firm grasp of the challenges in a DFM environment particularly design functionality, design quality, design-for-manufacturing, managing project budgets and timescales, and ensuring the contentment and optimum performance of a project team. Candidates from technology design and manufacturing backgrounds are particularly welcome.
Base salary circa £50-60k + car + various benefits.
