Shift Manager

Our client is a leading company in the multi-metal processing and distribution sector. Each local business is supported by the strength of not only a national company but also a highly successful international group. Their operation in Leeds is both long established and highly profitable and is regarded as a key business within the group.
Reporting to the Works Manager you will be responsible for managing the afternoon shift (2pm – 10pm) comprising of a multi-disciplined workforce within a significant warehousing and distribution facility. Your role will encompass warehousing, transport, health and safety and quality management. Essentially the role is about the efficient management of labour, resources and equipment in a high volume processing and distribution operation.
Successful performance will be measured on productivity improvement, customer service levels, goods inward and stock control management, safe working practices, motivation and discipline, effective processing of materials and their timely distribution, high standards of house keeping and adherence to all operating procedures under ISO9002.
With previous experience of operating in processing / manufacturing environments, you must be a skilled people manager with the ability to build a strong team and develop a “can do” culture. Knowledge and/or experience of ISO9002 and other complimentary systems and processes are desirable.
A good understanding of production operations and the systems/procedures required to maximise efficiency in the warehouse is essential. With a proven track record in Health and Safety management you will be a team player willing to lead by example.
