The Application Services Director will provide vision and leadership to improve and optimize the current state while moving to development of a comprehensive process and technology plan for the future. JOB FUNCTIONS: *Influence the business units to identify areas to focus on for system improvement including driving the adoption of leading practices. *Collaborate with the business partners to ensure systems and services are aligned to the needs of the business. *Ensure the successful implementation of prioritized and approved. Projects: *Manage project teams; ensure deadlines are met. *Prepare status reports and communicate to senior management. *Manage expectations, challenge requirements and help establish priorities. *Ensure technical and operational procedures meet business objectives. *Drive the establishment of leading IT practices, methodologies, and controls for the delivery of cost effective systems implementations. *Provide overall technological leadership to achieve the strategic objectives. *Establish a pan-European development and support capability effectively utilizing all available resources within the regions. *Provide regionally focused support for mission-critical applications. *Integrate regional development and support capabilities within the worldwide support framework. *Establish and drive cost effective external development partner relationships to continually reduce the cost per unit for IT expenditure within Europe. *Prioritize systems efforts and projects across local and global organizations. *Define, select and deploy the next generation of systems. *Evaluate and select external vendors to implement system components consistent with business strategy and technical architecture. *Ensure technical and operational procedures meet business objectives. Qualifications: *BS in computer science or business administration or comparable job experience in related business or IT positions. *Understanding of industry and business unit regulatory environment. *Background must also include experience in global enterprise systems implementation and management, management reporting systems, sales and marketing systems, manufacturing systems, financial transaction systems and data warehouse systems. *Strong understanding of development processes, tools, and methodologies *Background should include experience with distributed applications, enterprise frameworks and application integration software, and internet related technologies.
