Web QA Engineer, Web Tester, Testing Engineer
£30,000 - £35,000 + up to 20% bonus and stock options
West London, Acton W3
Our client is a highly profitable online company, and is now part of HomeAway, Group Inc., the world's largest network of holiday rental listing websites with over 70,000 properties available for rent directly from their owners. This is the largest website of its kind in the UK market, with over 21,000 properties. It is a high traffic website, and the business is growing at more than 40% per year, with an ambitious growth plan in the next few years.
The company is now looking for a flexible, communicative, team-playing, hands-on web QA (test) engineer with testing experience in a fast moving Agile environment.
As lead European QA Engineer you will work with a distributed team in Germany, the US and Costa Rica on ensuring high quality product delivery from their monthly release Agile development team. You'll take responsibility for managing and raising defects from the business team as well as ownership of functional test framework and coordination of software releases for the UK and Germany.
You'll have previously written and used automated testing frameworks for functionality and load, as well as more traditional manual scripted testing. You'll be happy at the interface between the technology team and the real world and be willing to work with developers to ensure low-defect, high quality output. You'll need a can-do, never-say “that's not my job” attitude and the ability to be flexible and responsive in a fast-paced environment.
Skills required:
- A good numerate degree – preferably in a computer science or engineering subject
- Experience designing and running Test cases and scripts, Functional tests and Load Tests (WebLoad)
- Good technical understanding of the web and web development practices, accessibility, user-centric design and cross-browser testing
- Experience in testing automation (preferably using Selenium, WATIR, WATIJ)
- Experience of release management and source control (SVN)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills – e.g. using database queries to check black-box results
- Testing experience
- ColdFusion, Java or SQL server experience a plus
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
- Fluency in another European language would be a bonus
