BI Analyst, SQL Analyst - Business Intelligence
£30,000 - £35,000 + up to 20% bonus and stock options
West London, Acton W3
Our client is a profitable online company, and is now part of HomeAway, Inc., the world's largest network of holiday rental listing websites with over 70,000 properties available for rent directly from their owners. This is the largest website of its kind in the UK market, with over 19,300 properties. It is a high traffic website, and the business is growing at more than 40% per year, with an ambitious growth plan in the next few years.
The company's hugely effective Chief Technical Officer needs to hand-over the business intelligence analysis, SQL query writing and management reporting part of his job to a savvy analyst to free up his time to concentrate on the strategic objectives of the business.
This role would be ideal for someone clever and enthusiastic with a strong numerate background, excellent SQL query writing skills, some development experience who would like more visibility into the commercial side of an internet business. You will ‘own' the business information and reporting work-stream for the European business and be responsible for working with the sales, technical and operational teams to operate, analyse, define and build reports. This is a superb opportunity for a ‘techie' who wants to learn ‘business'.
You will require the following skills and experience:
- SQL query-writing to an advanced level, preferably for SQL Server 2000/2005
- Proficiency with Excel for modelling and data analysis is highly desirable
- Familiarity with MS Access 2000+ as a query and presentational tool
- Understanding of web tracking and analytics and customer behaviour analysis, ideally using VBIS (SiteIntelligence)
- Appreciation of online marketing methods, most importantly of Search Engine PPC
- Understanding of statistical methods, data analysis, financial and key-performance-indicator reporting and scenario modelling.
- The vision to extract key business insights from data
- Ability to communicate and express difficult concepts to lay-people
- The ideal candidate will hold a good numerate degree (Engineering, Science, Computer Science or Maths)
In addition, applicants will:
- Be highly organised and methodical with high attention to detail
- Be a self-starter showing initiative and flexibility but also be able to follow guidelines when appropriate
- Have great interpersonal skills – this is a small, friendly, but ambitious team and personality will be important
- Have the ability to work both independently and in a project team
