IT Support Engineer - Level 3 - Linux/ Hosting Solutions
Central London E1
£30,000 - £35,000 + 15% Shift Allowance
Our client is a wholly owned subsidiary of a larger International Communications group, which is the largest provider of telecommunications, Internet and mobile services in Japan and one of the world's largest organisations. They are looking to recruit a Customer Support Engineer.
The role of Customer Support Engineer combines a high level of technical skills with a clear commitment to Customer Satisfaction. The Customer Support Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day Support of the company's Enterprise Hosting customers by telephone and email. The role will include First Line Support of Servers, Load-balancers, Firewalls, NAS (Network Attached Storage), Content Delivery and other devices. The role will also be responsible for managing escalations to other parts of the company's Operations organisation to ensure the prompt and satisfactory resolution of Customer Support cases.
Key duties:
* Provide Support for the company's customer base via telephone and email.
* Support, maintain, and improve customer services
* Provide accurate and timely diagnosis and rectification of customer faults.
* Resolve or escalate problems and service requests according to established procedures
* Work proactively to ensure prompt resolution of support cases and the highest possible levels of customer satisfaction
( Following training, demonstrate clear skills with the company's employed technologies.
The person in this position will:
* Report to Customer Support Supervisor for day-to-day activities
* Co-ordinate tasks with other company personnel world-wide, but primarily within Europe
* Work as part of the European Operations team
* Will not have direct reports, but may be required to occasionally provide coverage of the Customer Support Supervisor's role.
The candidate must be able to demonstrate good technical skills in the following areas:
* Redhat or Debian Linux operating system
* Microsoft Windows Server 2003 (Standard and Advanced Servers)
* Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS)
* Apache
* Solaris
* DNS
* Working knowledge of TCP/IP and server load balancing
* Working knowledge of Veritas Netbackup
The candidate does not require the following, but it would be an advantage:
* Microsoft Windows Server 2000
* Experience with Nokia's IPSO and Check Point products
* Networking experience
* Exposure to IBM server, Sun Server, Alteon load balancers and NetApps product ranges
