As Pre-Sales support Specialist you will be responsible for preparing technical quotations and proposals and presenting these to customers to support the sales targets. You will also require technical skills across a number of areas including High Availability Hosting, Workplace, Advance Continuity Solutions, Mainframe, Distributed Systems and Communications.
Main Responsibilities of the Pre-Sales Support Specialist:
Provision of day-to-day support for the sales organisation, producing equipment and pricing quotations, preparing and writing proposals, answering tender/RFI/RFP responses and presenting to customers to influence their buying decision through the professionalism and excellence of response.
Using the various tools, Microsoft products, Visio etc create a detailed and accurate price quotation and solution document, within strict timescales whilst meeting the client's technical requirements.
Partake in some project work supporting the development of existing products and providing technical input to new products. Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of all the company's products.
Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of technology and market trends within the IT industry. Specialise in a technology field to advise and teach other Pre-Sales personnel and other departments within the organisation
Ideal Educational qualifications for the role of Pre-Sales Support Specialist:
Educated to GCSE level or Equivalent, Maths and English essential.
Degree / HND / HNC in a IT related field
Professional Qualifications for the role of Pre- Sales Support Specialist:
Distributed Systems (UNIX) accreditations desirable.
Intel, Sun, AS400, Midrange Servers, Mainframe, Distributed Systems. SAN accreditations.
Communications (Voice & Data). LAN, WAN, VoIP, Wireless. Industry Accreditations Cisco, Nortel etc.
Industry accreditations from major suppliers, IBM, HP, EMC etc.
Technical Expertise (desirable to have as many as possible) -
Mainstream UNIX system administration.
Exposure to another flavour of UNIX or OS/400.
Disk and Mirroring Technology
SAN technology
Mid-range server hardware knowledge desirable.
Backup and disk technologies.
Managed IT solutions.
Knowledge of IT market, Trends and Industry.
Networking and Communications knowledge.
Personal Characteristics
A Can do' attitude and self motivated.
Excellent Customer facing skills.
Good presentation skills.
Strong technical background.
Good market awareness.
Ability to work under pressure to timescales in a demanding sales environment.
