Senior Network Administrator – UNIX, FreeBSD, Cisco
Vauxhall, SW8
To £50,000 per annum (negotiable depending on experience)
20 working days per annum, increasing by one day per year with the company to a maximum of 25 days per annum + Permanent Health Insurance.

Our client has established a strong market presence as an integrated services provider of internet and telecommunications services, computer networks and telephone systems to SMEs within the M25. They are looking to recruit a Senior Network Administrator.

The Role

The person will provide 3rd level support on Unix and core networking issues (FreeBSD and Cisco) and guide other staff in performing System Administration.

The role requires the writing of strategic and tactical business tools in the most appropriate environment for the job. Tools will typically be the automation of existing systems to increase efficiency of network support team.

The person will develop new systems and services under the direction of General Manager IP Network Engineering and the Finance Director. This is a strategic role and the person is expected to make a valuable and sustained contribution to increasing productivity.

Required Skills & Experience

1. Experienced as a Unix systems administrator/developer.
2. Unix System Administration (FreeBSD) (DNS, Radius, SQL, email).
3. Working knowledge of Cisco routing and switching.
4. Experience of structured development ideally using the following: Perl and Unix shell scripting, C#, .NET, and MySQL.
5. Solid understanding of Internet technologies.
6. Good knowledge of software development processes.
7. Experience with FreeBSD,Linux and Windows environments.
8. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to write documentation.
9. Network and application security.
10. Can do attitude.

Desirable
- Experience of working with SIP.
- IP networking – Cisco IOS (BGP & OSPF).
- The successful candidate will ideally have an ISP background.
