Network Managed Services Engineer, Network Engineer - CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, JNCIS
London, Canary Wharf
Up to £50,000 , plus benefits, medical, dental, non-contributory pension and bonus
Our client is a global player in the IT Services sector: their services keep people and information connected, from proactive business continuity through reactive disaster recovery to interactive high availability solutions, thereby helping over 10,000 clients worldwide have uninterrupted access to their business-critical information systems. They currently seek a Network Managed Services Engineer to join the team in London.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform firewall configuration changes in response to client requests
- Perform changes to the firewall management platforms (Provider-1, NetScreen Security Manager, etc)
- Perform operating system upgrades company managed firewalls and associated management platforms
- Escalate problems to the internal Network Engineering and external vendors as required
- Identify chronic firewall and associated management platform problems and take action to identify and resolve the root causes
- Perform root cause diagnosis and replacement of failed firewall and management platform components.
- Review firewall logs and rule bases to ensure that security best practices are enforced
- Act as a technical firewall training resource for the company NOC
- Provide a technical interface with customers
- Participate in network disaster recovery tests for the company's production network
- Provide on-call support functions
- Maintain technical expertise and required industry certifications and stay current with new networking technologies and product offerings
Applicant will hold the following key skills:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science etc or equivalent skills developed through industry experience
- CCNA or JNCIA certification
- CCNP or JNCIS certification within the first year of employment
- Working knowledge of routing protocols including BGP4, OSPF, RIP, EIGRP and knowledge of the Internet concepts and routing architectures
- Ability to effectively use diagnostic tools
The following skills are also desirable and hence would benefit your application:
- Previous industry experience in an implementation and support role in a large enterprise or service provider environment with the installation and support of a large IP network.
Your working hours will be 6am to 2pm.
