Technical Support Specialist – Data/Networks
Derbyshire, Chesterfield
Circa £18,000 + Mobile
Our client is a Microsoft Certified and Cisco Partner specialising in supporting IT Networks for businesses. This company, whose Technical Team are all Microsoft Certified, currently seeks a Technical Support Specialist to join their team.
The role:
The main duties of the role will be to provide post-sales technical telephone and remote support for data, hosting and voice over IP networks. These networks are built by them using mainly Microsoft and Cisco solutions and therefore the applicant must have competency in supporting and maintaining products provided by both.
The role will involve dealing with customer support issues on an ongoing basis, ranging from end-user support to network troubleshooting and server related issues. The work will be undertaken from their premises in Chesterfield.
This position offers the successful applicant a challenging role and a genuinely unique opportunity within a small team to expand their skills and knowledge within a company that is always at the forefront of technology, ideas and leading edge services it offers to its clients.
For this support services role you will report to the Technical Manager, and to deliver this support, you will be a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) (2000 or 2003). Cisco certified qualifications are preferred but not essential.
The client is looking for a candidate with a minimum of GCSE Grade B Mathematics or equivalent.
You MUST be competent in the support of Microsoft OS/Applications (Exchange, IIS, Active Directory, Veritas Backup), routers and switches, you will also hold the desirable knowledge of the following: Server 2000/2003, MS Exchange, MS XP Professional, Broadband Networks and Service Provider Networks.
The successful candidate will be offered training for Cisco and Microsoft to MCSA level, to be completed within 18 months.
A minimum of some previous year experience within the industry and a full UK Driving License is essential.
The successful candidate demonstrating these skills will be rewarded with a salary of around £18,000 dependent on experience.
