Desktop Services Team Leader - Technical Services

Our client is the leading manufacturer and service provider supplying underground pipeline products and services to pipeline contractors and utilities across the UK and overseas.
They are excited to announce this new position to join the Technical Services Team within the group. Thanks to growing success, this appointment reflects the increased emphasis being placed on the delivery of Technical and Commercial Application solutions to provide competitive advantage to the business in an increasingly sophisticated supply-chain environment.
For this hands-on role you will report to the Technical Collaboration Manager, have good broad technical IT experience and work well within a team, leading the co-ordination of the daily service requirements.
Main tasks will include:
- Ensure timely delivery of the Desktop Services function to the business according to agreed standards
- Responsibility for day to day activities of Desktop Support Team
- Manage the periodical audits of hardware and software, resolution of issues and regular status reports to manager responsible
- Liaison with IT managers to ensure operational support, development and procedures are in line with technical and commercial requirements
- Evaluation of new technologies and methodologies with a view to their potential application
- Purchasing of equipment and maintenance of external support contracts
