This is an exciting opportunity for a capable and motivated First/Second Line Support Technician with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Based Durham and the North East, you will be support a variety of clients and diverse technologies.

The role will require first level computer and PC operating system desktop support, covering Windows 98, 2000, ME and XP; operating a help desk system and knowledge of outlook and anti-virus systems; addition and amendment of new users and security rights and access; first line application software support; and competence with troubleshooting Microsoft Office Suite issues.

You must also have administrative experience with Active Directory, Windows servers and Exchange. You must have the ability to be able to trouble shoot challenging support issues and a good understanding of TCP/IP networks. You must have experience of NT4, W2K, & 2003 (preferred). Additional administrative experience with Veritas, Backup Exec, Anti Virus products and basic Cisco configuration are also desirable.

This will be a highly customer facing role therefore you will have outstanding customer service delivery and excellent relationship building skills. You will have a good overall understanding of IT and emerging technologies. You will have your own transport and be able to travel to our head office in Durham and our client base across the north east.

You will have a minimum of 2 years prior experience in a busy helpdesk environment or support role, with good analytical and problem solving skills. You will be capable of providing various levels of support to users from telephone and remote through to on site. You must also be able to complete and maintain required documentation for the site.

The ability to self manage is essential and you should be a well self motivated individual. You will either be studying, or willing to study, for the relevant technical accreditation.
