Our client is one of the UK's leading data services companies. They help clients to maximise the value of their customer data, empowering them to make better, more informed business decisions. The company's successful growth has created an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Database Developer.
The purpose of the role is to assist in the creation and ongoing support of marketing databases. This includes the provision of first line user and technical lever support for Alterian technology solutions, performing selections from existing Oracle/Alterian databases according to pre-defined criteria, assisting in the creation of new Oracle/Alterian databases and undertaking developments of existing databases.
The position will involve a two year training plan, after which the successful candidate will become a Database Developer within the company. This is a varied and challenging position that will offer the successful candidate the potential for career progression in a number of directions.
The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level, preferably in a computer related discipline. The role requires some knowledge of VB6/VBA and relational databases. Excellent communication and time management skills are essential.
The key responsibilities are:
• First line support for both external and internal clients hosted and remote environments
• Resolve both technical issues and analysis from technical and non-technical callers
• Produce selections from existing Oracle or Alterian databases according to pre-defined criteria ensuring procedures are followed as required
• To assist with the development and build new stages of new marketing databases using Oracle or Alterian technologies
• To undertake required developments to existing Oracle/Alterian databases, working to an agreed specification
• On site installation of products and solutions
• Participate in the testing of products and solutions
