Our client is the UK arm of one of Europe's largest and most successful IT Services Organisations. The UK is one of the fastest growing and most strategically important markets for the Group, delivering a full range of IT Services to many of the UK's leading organisations. They are looking to recruit an Oracle DBA, Database Administrator.
Responsibilities:
* Set up of Oracle and Unix environment components
* Maintenance and housekeeping of databases
* Backup/Restore Oracle DBs (Ad-hoc and Scheduled)
* Provide environment support (including defects, requests and data cut-down)
* Update environment information and configuration
* Perform deployments
* Raise defects against Documentation, Code and configuration required for deployment
* Advise projects on database requirements and provide input to the Release Managers on environment capacity
* Provide weekly measurement and reports of environment availability and activities
Mandatory Skills:
* Oracle 9i database administration
* Unix
* Data Export/Import
* Creating tablespaces, tables, indexes, users, roles, privs etc
* Database reorganisation
* Making structural changes to the databases
* Sizing database objects for effective space management and optimal performance
* Defragmentation of tables and indexes
* Refreshing development database from production (or other environments)
* Physical copy of database
* Backup and Recovery using RMAN, Oracle tool
Desirable Skills:
* Unix scripting
* Business Objects
* .net
* Data Integrator
* Configuration Management ( Harvest /ClearCase)
Personal Attributes:
* Client facing skills
* Flexibility
Educational Qualifications:
* Degree or equivalent
