Our client has been delivering high performance, world class broadband networks, telecoms and support services to around 8000 users across the UK and Ireland. They have strategically designed and developed unique products and solutions to help businesses to success. Their entire portfolio of business services is delivered across our 3 datacentres, something which few competitors are able to provide at such a complex level. The Group are looking for an excellent technical Linux Developer to lead in the development of its Enterprise Connect and MACS products, currently leading the UK market.

The role:

They have substantial plans to expand the two products throughout Europe and be the market leader within the SME marketplace.

You must be aware of the IT industry and possess excellent programming skills with at least some previous experience in Ansi C, C++, Linux Kernel programming, PHP, Perl, SH and understand TCP/IP networking and ideally the broadband market, but the latter is not essential.

You must be able to approach requirements in an analytic way, grasp an understanding of what needs to be achieved and further improve on functionality, reliability and features which would also include automating repetitive tasks. You will be capable of making high level design decisions, be a team player and have leadership skill.

Key skills required are as follows:

1. Ansi C
2. C++
3. Linux Kernel programming
4. PHP
5. Java/ JBOSS
6. MYSQL
7. XML
8. Good all round networking skills – routing, switching, Firewalling, VPN's, tunnelling - preferable
9. Web servers - [Apache configuration]
10. DNS - Bind9, Dynamic updates via DHCP
11. Project management skills would be a distinct advantage too
12. Enthusiasm, proactive working ethics and professionalism are key elements in working with Vaioni, so you must possess these skills too

Education - theoretical background, typical degrees are Bachelor of Computer Science, Bachelor of Science (with a major in Comp Science) or Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical, Computer or Software), but this is not essential. You must have a valid driving license.
