Quantity Surveyor – Modular Building – Hull

My client is the leader in the field of modular building; they have a turnover of £30m and employ over 250 people. Advances in modular building and the growing interest in its uses from the leisure and commercial sectors have meant that my client has expanded rapidly.
Due to this expansion they are seeking a new Quantity Surveyor. If you can see yourself working for an innovative forward thinking company then this will definitely be the role for you. The work is split between office based work and the locations where the modular buildings are erected to view and evaluate the location and its additional costs.
The successful candidate will control the financial management of modular construction projects, up to a value of £3-4 million, from inception through tender and to final handover, liasing with internal cost planning and design teams, ensuring strict financial control and customer satisfaction
As a quantity surveyor with at least 5 years experience, you will possess the following attributes:
• 5 years experience as a quantity surveyor, working for a construction based contractor or specialist sub contractor.
• MOD/measured term contract experience
• Pro-active approach to the construction process
• Professional qualification and advantage i.e. IOB, RICS
You will also have the following personal attributes
• Excellent communicator

• Commercial and contractual awareness
• Team player
• Methodical approach to work
• Computer literate
This post is office based (East Yorkshire), however, you must be made aware that the client are a national operation and there will be travel and overnight stays from time to time
Main tasks and responsibilities:
• Effective contract administration, including negotiation
• Effectively present cost models to client and design team
• To maintain effective communication between the client and design team
• To develop and maintain effective client relationships to ensure repeat business is targeted and achieved in accordance with the business plan
• Budgetary and cost control
• Cash flow forecast reporting
• Accurate cost reporting (pre and post contract)
• Undertaking valuations and agreeing payment to contractors
• Final account negotiation and settlement
• To evaluate and select contractors and sub contractors
• Management and liaison with sub contract companies
• Progress reports to Construction Director
• Ensuring that Health and Safety regulations are understood and complied with
In return the client will offer a competitive salary package that will consist of a basic of up to £35,000 per annum, 25 days holiday per year, joint contribution pension, and a company car. They will also provide private health cover for you, and life cover.
