Areas of Responsibility ·ÔPerform engineering activities associated with electrical (primarily low voltage) design for all projects in consultation with colleagues, suppliers and customers, in line with best practice and with reference to the contract specification. ·ÔProvide necessary support for electrical scope for tenders. â·ÔSpecify requirements for design of motor control centres, low voltage power distribution, controls interfaces and electrical installation. ·ÔSpecify requirements for coding and testing of PLC and MMI software. ·ÔPlace necessary sub-contracts for electrical scope having ensured most cost-effective solution and best value for money. ·ÔSpecify and procure instrumentation. ·ÔManage in-house engineering and bought-in costs to ensure that electrical scope is implemented within budget and in the most cost effective manner. ·ÔReview specifications and drawings to ensure that electrical scope is implemented in line with best practice and with the contract specification. ·ÔEnsure compliance with statutory and contractual requirements for electrical with particular regard to Health and Safety legislation. ·ÔConvey information on hardwired and software interfaces to and from 3rd party equipment to ensure correct interfacing. âCommission electrical panels, instruments and PLC software. ÂSkills Required to Perform Job â·ÔIdeally qualified to BSC or Eng Honours in a relevant discipline. Alternatively qualified to a minimum of Higher National Certificate in a relevant discipline if this is accompanied by a significant amount of relevant experience. ·ÔKnowledge of sewage treatment processes. A knowledge of activated sludge plants and sequential batch reactors is not essential but would be useful. ·ÔOrganisational skills for handling of workload for electrical and software scope and for performing tasks in a timely and correctly prioritised manner. ·ÔCommunication skills for interfacing with colleagues, reporting to project management, liasing with customers and writing specifications. ·ÔKnowledge and application of the necessary aspects of electrical engineering, instrumentation and control systems design. ·ÔAt least a working knowledge of PLC hardware and software for design
