ÂÕPurposeâõ Our client''s range of products is highly technical and the operating conditions in which the products are used are themselves very complex. Sales are generally achieved by the demonstration of technical competence to customers, combined with cost effective design and engineering. Sometimes these customers are multinational organisations mainly in the hydrocarbon sector and some of the major projects into which we sell often have lead times of several years. Operating in this environment places heavy demands on both the engineering and process/commercial abilities of engineers. With the foregoing background the Proposal Engineer’s function is to co-ordinate the production of comprehensive and competitive tenders in order to meet the company’s business objectives and to satisfy customers’ requirements. ÂÕMain Responsibilities âõ ·ÔReview of the Request for Quotation (RFQ) issued by a prospective customer and identification of all the information required to allow a comprehensive and competitive proposal to be prepared in response to the RFQ ·ÔIdentification of all the information required from other departments to allow a suitable technical and commercial proposal to be prepared. ·ÔSetting a schedule of actions required to ensure that sufficient time is allocated to the actions necessary to provide the required information. ·ÔCommunication of the actions required and the available time in which to fulfil the actions to the appropriate department managers. ·ÔCompilation and issue of the information required by other departments to allow them to provide the input required to prepare the proposal. ·ÔBased on data provided from other departments or from data supplied directly by vendors, prepare a detailed cost estimate taking into account equipment costs, associated costs (transportation, travel etc), manpower costs and other costs that are appropriate. ·ÔEnsure review meetings take place with input from appropriate disciplines during the proposal preparation period, to review progress made, problems arising and schedule status. ·ÔEnsure a price review meeting with appropriate senior management takes place. ·ÔLiaise with the Sales Manager and the Sales and Marketing Director, whilst preparing the commercial section of the proposal. ·ÔProduction of the proposal and its issue to the potential customer ·ÔAssist and support Sales Engineers in pre and post tender discussions and negotiations with the potential customer. ·ÔAchievement of objectives through compliance with and implementation of the documented Quality System. ÂÕOTHER DUTIES âõ ·ÔBe aware of the costs and design features of existing projects and their influence on new quotations ·ÔContribute towards the vetting of customer enquiries with a view to recommending their acceptance or rejection ·ÔEnsure that incoming orders meet the contents of the proposal and ensure that they are acceptable to the company · Travel with the Sales Engineer, providing technical/commercial back-up in the efforts to sell the proposal ÂÕPerson Specification õ Essential Requirements: âEngineering background in Process or Mechanical Systems. Possession of a logical and enquiring mind. Strong analytical and communication skills. Persistence and determination, ability to focus on achieving objectives. Good motivational and communication skills, ability to provide an inspirational lead. ÂDesirable Requirements: âExperience of the technologies provided by the Axsia Group (Oil treatment, Water Treatment, Gas Treatment, Hydrogen Production and Hydrogen Purification) Knowledge of primary markets (Oil and Gas Production, Refining, Petrochemical and Industrial Gas Supply) Ability to schedule tasks and monitor progress against the schedule Good standard of English language and computer literate. Attention to detail and presentation skills. Good document management practices. Computer literate and experienced in using standard MicroSoft software.
