Customer Support Engineer (Unix, Oracle, wireless), West London, Up to 35K The role The Customer Support Engineer is responsible for on-site deployments and remote support. This is a hands-on technical position that will involve installations, trials, trouble shooting and customer relations Responsibilities - Provision of third level support - Troubleshooting and analysis of customer problems (telephone, email or on-site). - Provide workarounds for customer problems. - On-site testing, installation and deployment of our products - Management of 3rd party hardware support - Liase with 3rd party software support to troubleshoot problems - Play a role in the definition of the product roadmap by representing the customers operational perspective. - Provide support for technical sales activities. - The role involves international travel. Experience and skills - Experience of UNIX and Oracle and databases is essential with a working knowledge of Windows. - Capable of writing UNIX shell scripts / VB scripts / DOS scripts. - Basic knowledge of TCP/IP is required in addition to a basic knowledge of SQL. - Knowledge of software/system deployment and customisation required, ideally in a cellular environment (ROC).
