Senior Software Engineer (Broadcast, DVB, STB)Up to £37k, Hampshire, ASAP Our client is currently looking for a Senior Software Engineer with experience in Java or C++ on Unix platforms. The role will be operating in the broadcast sector and development with STB will be a major advantage. The Senior Engineer role also involves the coaching and mentoring of junior team members. It is anticipated that in the medium term (6-12 months) this role may evolve into a Technical Team Leader position. Mandatory Skills and Experience At least four years commercial development experience using either Java or C++, along with at least a years relevant experience of the other language. A Java focussed person should have experience in most of the following areas: Multithreaded Programming Java XML technologies (JAXB, JAX-RPC, SOAP etc) Servlets and RMI JMS A C++ focussed person should have experience in most of the following areas: STL and Templates Multithreaded Programming Cross platform development for Unix/Linux/Windows Networking technologies, sockets and TCP/IP Desirable Skills and Experience Experience of UML or similar object oriented design techniques.
