Serious produces live music events. We work with a wide range of musicians and composers from all over the world and have a reputation for creating exciting collaborations and commissions.
Our projects range from large festivals to intimate clubs, from international tours to specially commissioned major events. You will find our interests go further than the concert hall, as we have a commitment to audience and artist development, music publishing and a major programme of innovative education work for all levels of ability.
We are looking for a Communications Co-ordinator to work with the Communications Manager on a seven month contract.
The Communications team markets Serious through print production and distribution, direct mailings, press and radio advertising and commissioning and producing show programmes. Net research and marketing through electronic means, and especially Serious’ own website, is now becoming more important to our work. Press work is generally done outside the office by freelancers and record company representatives, but is commissioned and co-ordinated from the Serious office.
As well as the vital work of selling tickets for shows, there is a longer term strategy of raising the profile of Serious as a producing organisation with actual and potential audiences, public funders, sponsors and other music industry organisations. Although London based, Serious works extensively with major UK regional venues and producers and developing these working relationships is a key part of the team’s work.
As well as general administrative support for the Communications Manager, the post will entail liasing with box offices and ticket agents, filing and archiving, web site maintenance and development, keeping text and images of artists up to date, servicing press with images and biographies, research of marketing opportunities and the co-ordination of print distribution.
Please send a CV, plus a covering letter of no more than 400 words, by 10am Wednesday 4 May, explaining why you think you would suitable for the post and what appeals to you about Serious’ work, to martin@serious.org.uk or Serious (Communications Co-ordinator Post), 18 Hatton Place, London EC1N 8RU.
