Aerospace and Defence Specialist Recruiters
A number of vacancies have arisen within Manufacturing Systems Engineering The successful candidates will be responsible for the definition, design, implementation, documentation, analysis and optimisation of manufacturing systems and processes relating to the manufacture of composite components. Processes will include Autoclaves, Forming, Automatic Tape Layers, Routers, NDT Equipment, Process Booths, Laser Ablation booths, Paint Shops, Automation, Composite Drilling, etc.
Key Accountabilities
Reporting to the Project Leader, the responsibilities of the successful candidate will include:
- Delivering a robust process to enable the manufacture of aircraft components in line with design data.
- Engagement of potential suppliers during the scoping phase of the project.
- Creation of business cases to ensure the capital funding is available to support the project.
- Liaison with potential suppliers to ensure that they have the correct information to enable a robust quote to be generated.
- Continuous liaison with selected equipment supplier to ensure that project progresses within Time, Cost and Quality limits.
- Co-ordination of internal function resource to ensure that Airbus support implementation of system.
- Liaison with production teams to ensure that they are fully involved and capable of adopting all manufacturing processes.
- Management of all issues during the project cycle to ensure that the equipment is capable of manufacturing components in line with the A350 programme.
Profile
Key Attributes Essential
- Ideally candidates will be qualified to HNC/HND level or better in an engineering subject and have experience in the introduction of new manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Experience in Project Management tools and techniques.
- An ability to communicate effectively at all levels
- Applications are welcomed from individuals who have completed a mechanical/aerospace engineering apprenticeship and have five years experience, and who want to build on their manufacturing experience to develop their technical capability further.
- Alternatively applicants with an engineering degree are welcome. Support will be provided by the Manufacturing Engineering Function for the continual development of technical skills and competencies relevant to the role.
Desirable
- Knowledge of Composite Manufacture.
- A good working knowledge of airframe manufacturing processes.
- Working knowledge of Health and Safety and ergonomics procedures.
- Experience in a similar role at this operating level / equivalent
- Chartered Engineer.
