The Design Coherence Group is part of the Astute Design Authorities Design Integration Department. The group manages the coherence requirements for standards, materials, environment and legislation across the whole boat.
The group is looking to recruit experienced engineers into the Standards Section. Candidates should have a marine engineering background and ideally be qualified to either HNC or ONC in Mechanical Engineering.
The role will provide guidance to the project as a whole on standards. And provide assurance standards have been applied across the Astute Class Design in a cost-effective manner consistent with meeting the project requirements.
Within this role you will be responsible for supporting the Standards and Design Coherence Manager in: Managing the application of standards across the project. Refining existing processes that formally demonstrate compliance with standards in accordance with the contract. Undertaking compliance with standards verification work. This will include liasing with the Specialist Managers to determine what evidence has been defined to demonstrate compliance with mechanical standards. Identifying and resolving issues arising from the application of mechanical standards. Generating progress reports and reporting progress against agreed tasks. Assessing Engineering Change Proposals relating to mechanical standards. Preparation of material for design reviews.
Experienced marine engineer with design and/or in-service background on submarines or other naval vessels. Computer literate. Good communication skills at all levels. Ability to work individually or as part of a team. Auditing experience [an advantage].Experience in the development and/or application of standards [an advantage].
