Our client is a business and technology consultancy that focuses on enterprise portal and content management technologies. Their clients include some of the world's largest corporations, representing a broad range of industries including Financial Services, Electronics, Media, Telecommunications, Pharmaceuticals and Publishing. They provide them with a differentiated, value added and more intimate service using an intelligent approach to the application of technology.
The company is now seeking highly motivated graduates to join this expanding team as Technical Consultants. The work is challenging in more ways than one, so while they expect you to have an excellent academic track record (28 UCAS points and a first in Computer Science or a related numerical discipline) they are also interested in your achievements and experiences outside the classroom.
So what can you expect from our client as a graduate recruit? Initially they will take you through a training course so that you understand the basics of what the company does and the technologies they use. As soon as you complete the training course you will be straight onto a real project, gaining first hand experience of how the company interacts with clients and deliver technology that meets their requirements. You will be working closely with experienced consultants to design, develop and deliver enterprise strength web applications and their related components both on and off client sites.
You will be a recent graduate with a first in Computer Science or a related numerical or scientific discipline. You will also have:
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills;
- The ability to work on challenging assignments on your own without direct supervision;
- Excellent interpersonal skills. As comfortable in front of the client as a computer;
- Right of abode to live and work in the United Kingdom, without restriction;
- Willing to travel overseas for onsite assignments if required.
You will also require the following technical skills:
- Excellent development skills in Java, or a similar object-oriented development language;
- Experience in any of the following advantageous: SQL, web development (HTML, css, Javascript), Unix/Linux;
- Experience in any of the following would also be an advantage: PHP, JSP, Java Beans, Servlets, EJB, distributed computing, HTML, UNIX, J2EE, Websphere, Weblogic, Documentum, Plumtree, Hummingbird (PC Docs)
