Part of one of the world's largest metal producers, our client is also the leader in the UK processing and distribution sector. They have unrivalled product, processing and Technical resources that enable us to provide innovative material solutions for our customers across industry. They have a vacancy for a Maintenance Engineer at their Service Center in LLanwern.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing first level of engineering expertise to assist in fault analysis, and providing practical cost effective solutions to maintain equipment condition and minimise downtime.
Duties/Responsibilities:
To cover all areas as required providing a complete range of engineering activities:-
- Ensure all activities comply with the Health and Safety requirements
- Provide first level of engineering expertise to assist in fault analysis, thereby reducing downtime and providing practical cost effective solutions
- React to engineering AND safety issues as they arise and utilise your knowledge, experience and skill to initiate corrective actions
- Work to high standards and minimize costs.
- To have a full understanding of appropriate engineering systems, to issue permits to systems as and when required
- Actively contribute to all team activities aimed at improving plant performance
- Work with the local contractors with a view to minimising unplanned downtime, perform any required maintenance tasks, and Engineering tasks in line with the maintenance plan
Qualifications/Personal Qualities
- Time served –approved mechanical apprenticeship
- Educated to HNC level
- Industrial experience/ decoiling operation experience.
- Fault finding Experience on hydraulic, pneumatic and other fluid power systems on steel processing applications
- Good knowledge of health and safety requirements
- Able to work under pressure
- Work overtime as and when required
- Electrical knowledge an advantage
The role will entail out of hours call out, Saturday working when required and double days with associated shift premium.
