The post-holder will work closely with the Business Development Manager – General Market to achieve agreed sales targets, by performing the following key duties:
- Generate enquiries from existing and new accounts by ‘cold calling', in order to identify and sell against the whole range of the business' products and processing facilities and thereby maximise profit opportunities.
- Interpret customer enquiries, providing prompt quotations consistent with agreed service criteria for such customers, in order to maximise conversion rates and profit opportunities.
- Communicate sales order information for converted enquiries to the Business Support Team to expedite prompt and accurate delivery.
- Monitor the progress of supply arrangements and when necessary liaise with the business support team to ensure orders are executed in accordance with commitments and/or advise customers of expected failure to meet those commitments, agreeing alternative arrangements in order that customer satisfaction be maximised.
- Record and analyse lost order enquiries in order to establish future selling opportunities and better understand competitor activity and business competitiveness.
- Resolve promptly customer complaints, where necessary enlisting the support of the Business Development Manager – General Market and other relevant managers, to maximise customer retention.
- Raise credit notes for the approval of the Business Development Manager General Market, logging customer disputes according to local process in order to facilitate prompt resolution.
- Routinely review credit exposure of allocated accounts and as required undertake cash collection in order to reduce exposure to bad debt and minimise working capital outlay.
- Contribute to the development and review of business development sales plans and forecasts in order to help identify opportunities to maximise the profit potential of accounts therein.
- Ensure that own and team operations, including those undertaken on the Company's behalf by third party service providers, are conducted in manner which fully complies with health and safety, quality, environmental and corporate policies.
For this role, commercial experience is required, with examples of managing customer relationships and cold calling mainly by telephone. The role requires self motivation, drive, enthusiasm and a good standard of education. The job holder must be methodical, organised and numerate, have a very personable telephone manner and be able to communicate effectively both internally and with customers.
